Identity is a very important subject to talk about, because every one of us has a different type of identity. I think every human has only one identity, even though people communicate face to face and through the internet. The way a person views his individuality face to face is different from the way a humans would view it on the internet. If a person was to compliment a picture of you on the internet, the way you would read the comment is different when that person says the compliment to you face to face. By using facial expression you would immediately know what message that person is trying to give out by complimenting your appearance, but in the internet you can never know what that persons message by complimenting on your photos. This is the main reason people think that they have two or more identity’s one on the internet another on the phone and finally face to face, but the reality of the situation is that you have only one. Although this is true, some people don’t like to view their expressions and feelings face to face but rather do it on the phone or the internet.

Some people would create a whole new identity just for the fun of it or to trick people. That type of mentality is terrible for a growing community or a growing forum on the web. There are also nick names that people tend to use so they can cover up their real names. There are a lot of social networking online today, for example, Facebook, MySpace, Tdotwire and lots of other sites. These websites can be helpful and also can be very harmful. If you could not come to school for a day, and you wanted to know what you have missed in class, you could open up Facebook and ask a classmate about homework and things you missed for that day. That’s one of the examples of how social networking can be extremely helpful to students and youth in general. But it can be very bad for those whom are attached to it for a long period of time. There are people that go on the computer for hours and hours just wasting their time in these social networking sites. From my point of view about Facebook and the other sites, is that they are a waste of time, although I think its not a good influence on the youth, I am still using it because once you have started these kinds of social events you will not be able to stop yourself from using them.
